Fluticasone nasal spray is a steroid medication in spray form which helps relieve the symptoms of a stuffy, itchy or runny nose (rhinitis)
Fluticasone nasal spray is used to treat allergic rhinitis or hayfever.
It is helpful for the symptoms associated with this condition , i.e sneezing, runny nose and itchy nose
Contains a steroid medication which is used to calm down the inflammation and swelling that causes congestion, itching, sneezing and irritation in the nose
This medication is usually prescribed to be used twice a day into each nostril
Before using this medication blow your nose gently to clear it
use the spray (you should see a fine mist in the air) by inserting the nozzle into your nostril while closing the other nostril with your finger and breathe into each nostril.
Clean the nozzle after use
It takes a few days of treatment to feel the full effect, if you have hayfever it is best to start the treatment 2-3 weeks before the hayfever season begins
Common side effects of Fluticasone include dryness and irritation of the nose and throat, mild nosebleeds, unusual taste and smells ( because it is a nasal preparation) and headaches
Avoid sharing this medication with others who may have similar symptoms
Do not use this medication if you have an active and untreated infection in your nose
It is best to avoid after nasal surgery
It is best to avoid alcohol whilst on this medication
Being pregnant can increase the likelihood of getting symptoms like nasal stuffiness and discomfort; Fluticasone can be used with caution but it is best to discuss this with one of our doctors
