* Please note that the lab results are estimates and can vary. Tests taken after 1pm will be classified as the following day for timing purposes. You will receive a written analysis of your results within 1 working day of them being available from the laboratory. It is often possible for the doctor who reviews your results to be the same doctor who requested them. This is considered medical best practice but will add an additional 1 working day to the timings. If you have multiple tests then we shall wait to report on them together unless the first results highlight any reason for concern. Sometimes the preliminary results will determine that additional tests need to be carried out on your sample. If this is the case then your results will take longer. There is no additional charge for this service.
Chlamydia is a type of sexually transmitted infection (STI). It is the most common type of STI in the UK currently and is easily treatable. The infection is caused by a bacteria called Chlamydia trachomatis, which is transmitted via infected semen and vaginal fluids. In the majority of people infected with Chlamydia it does not cause any symptoms or can caused symptoms much later after infection.
Most people catch Chlamydia by having sex with someone who has it. As it is transmitted through infected semen or vaginal fluid. You can catch chlamydia from:
Wearing a condom can help to protect against Chlamydia and other STIs.
Most people that have Chlamydia have no symptoms or can present with symptoms much later after picking up the infection. It is estimated that 7 in 10 infected women and 5 in 10 infected men do not have any symptoms of the infection. It is therefore vital that regular sexual health screens are completed to allow treatment and to stop further transmission of the infection.
Common symptoms of Chlamydia in women:
Common symptoms of Chlamydia in men:
It is best to wait 2 weeks after any unprotected intercourse before testing for Chlamydia as testing before this may be falsely negative. It is very easy to test for Chlamydia and either involves a urine sample or a swab being taken from where the infection is suspected e.g vaginal, penile, rectal or oral swabs as appropriate. It is best to not pass urine for 2 hours before the urine sample if this is the test being organised as this gives the most accurate results.
Gonorrhoea can cause similar symptoms to Chlamydia, so this is typically also tested for at the same time. It is often advisable to check for other infections at the same time in which case you may wish to consider a full sexual health screen.
You can reduce your chance of having the infection by using condoms during sex (vaginal, oral or anal sex) or the use of vaginal dams during female oral sex and contact between female genitals. Avoid sharing sex toys, but if you are going to; then to wash them in between use or use new condoms to cover them before sharing.
People who are diagnosed with chlamydia are usually prescribed a course of antibiotics; this maybe for one day or for seven days depending on the circumstances. It is also recommended that sexual partners are tested and treated for the infection to reduce the change of re-infection or spread to other people.
I was running late due to finding parking. No issues, was slotted in and dealt with in a very professional manner.Wednesday, June 29, 2022

A bit too expensive for me in cases where I don’t need a speedy appointmentMonday, June 27, 2022
Excellent dr today.Saturday, June 25, 2022
Easy booking portal, bright and helpful doctor, and useful follow up e-mail with next steps.Friday, June 24, 2022
Dr Lu was lovely and thoughtful. Unfortunately not all GP tests will be comfortable/pain-free, especially for a woman, but Dr Lu constantly checked in with me during the test, asking if I’m okay, comfortable etc. I appreciated that as not many doctors (in my experience) have done that for me. Very friendly woman and patient with my questions.Wednesday, June 22, 2022
Very good serviceWednesday, June 22, 2022
Dr Fonseca was very lovely and professional. I have peace of mind, I would definitely recommend ThanksTuesday, June 21, 2022
Very good!Tuesday, June 21, 2022
I had to use the service to get a medical certificate for a sports event - it's expensive but convenient. I guess that makes you realize exactly how brilliant the NHS is, and how expensive an insurance based or private health care system would be.Tuesday, June 21, 2022
Everything was so smooth from booking to visit, the doctor was nice, professional and quick to help and the premises much nicer than at my NHS GP’s. Excellent value for money and next day appointments available so can see myself going back again!Tuesday, June 21, 2022
We had a face to face consultation with Dr Mehra. He is a brilliant doctor and is extremely thorough, understanding, helpful and considerate. I would highly recommend him.Monday, June 20, 2022
This was my first experience with DocTap. I had booked an appointment with Dr Chitra and immediately felt at ease. He had a very gentle, open, friendly manner and took the time to listen to my concerns. I walked away comforted and reassured by the overall experience. Booking an appointment was rather straightforward and the premises was fairly easy to get to, clean, simply decorated and well stocked. I would definitely recommend giving DocTap a try.Saturday, June 18, 2022
Very impressed with the service. Doctor was punctual, professional and made me feel at ease throughout the appointment. No complaints.Saturday, June 18, 2022
Dr Mehra was informative, sensitive and helpful from start to finish. He answered all of my questions fully and I felt comfortable in discussing my medical concerns and symptoms. This is the second time I have visited Dr Mehra and should I require any further assistance, I would not hesitate to book him for a consultation again. Thank you for going above and beyond Dr Mehra!Thursday, June 16, 2022
Very efficient booking, friendly doctor and quick referral process. Happy with the service :)Wednesday, June 15, 2022

Really lovely doctorThursday, June 9, 2022
Fabulous place, friendly, incredible service Going from NHS to private. Say no more to NHS and their old fashioned way, Monday at 8 in the morning, 2 weeks to get an appointment, be seated for 30 minutes, register and has to be in the same Borough, not many surgeries to choose from. I would certainly recommend this I have only done the London Bridge venue and the 1st time for me today 10 minutes walk away for me Having a same day appointment and choosing an appointment is a game changer in this modern world. The card with the QR photo and info so useful. Affordable, flexible game changing way of seeing a doctor, prescriptions service The GP even had medicine in her draw which was 2 out of 3, the other medicine was a prescription which the Gp written down the prescription and said go to any pharmacies within 28 days Absolutely FaultlessTuesday, June 7, 2022
Dr Patel was excellent.Friday, June 3, 2022
I was unable to get through to my NHS GP surgery and booked an appointment with DocTap instead. The location near Kings Cross Station was convenient. I saw a friendly, professional doctor who took plenty of time to understand my symptoms, present a course of action, print off some exercises for me to do and write an update for my GP records. I could not fault the service I received.Wednesday, June 1, 2022
I was very pleased with the entire process. A big thanks to Dr Lakshmi Kumar, and thanks to the DocTap team.Tuesday, May 31, 2022
It was very helpful to me and for me to find such a receptive doctor at what is a very late stage in years of misdiagnosis. I would return if further tests are needed.Tuesday, May 31, 2022
Dr Patel was beyond caring and kind. I felt listened to and in very safe hands. I will definitely book to see Dr Patel in the future. I am very impressed with the Doctap services.Sunday, May 29, 2022

With 11 STD clinics across London and same day appointments available 7 days a week, it has never been easier to book a chlamydia test. We are proud to partner with The Doctors Laboratory (TDL) which has a worldwide reputation for excellence.

Your results will also be accompanied by a written analysis of what they mean and what your doctor advises you to do next. Should additional treatment be required, or if you simply wish to discuss the results in more detail, then you can book a 15 minute follow up consultation for only £25. This can either be at any DocTap clinic or over the phone. When booking your follow up consultation you can request to see you original doctor if you wish (subject to their availability).
Should you require a full consulation before deciding to have a chlamydia test then there may be insufficient time to also take a blood sample in the appointment. In that case you can choose to either go to our walk in laboratory by Oxford Street (£15 phlebotomy fee applies) or to make a second appointment for the doctor to take the bloods.Book a Chlamydia Test today
