I had a good experience with Dr Becker who was thorough in her examination during the consultation. She gave me time to explain my concerns and she answered all my questions. I found her to be professional and attentive. The online booking process is straightforward and there were many available options for same day appointments at various locations.

I recently attended an appointment with Dr. Lu at Doctap with the primary purpose of obtaining a referral to a urologist for insurance purposes. While I appreciate the ease of booking and the timely availability of appointments, I encountered several issues during my visit that I believe need to be addressed to improve patient experience and service compliance. Concerns: Handling of Personal Data: Despite clearly communicating that I required a straightforward referral letter, I was encouraged to provide additional medical information beyond what was necessary for the referral. This made me feel uncomfortable and raised concerns about the adherence to data protection principles, particularly with regard to data minimization and purpose limitation under GDPR. I am concerned that the collection and inclusion of unnecessary personal information may not align with Doctap's Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions. Content of Referral Letter: The referral letter provided included detailed medical history and information that were not essential for the purpose of securing a referral. Inclusion of this unnecessary information may negatively impact my insurance claim and seemed inconsistent with my initial request. My request to have the referral letter amended to include only the necessary information was refused, which has caused further delays and frustration. Impact on Access to Care: After the appointment I have asked to amend the letter but the same doctor was unavailable, I could not get a response from doctap if they can amend it for days and when I came to see another doctor despite assurances that they could help they actually did not. The delays in communication and refusal to amend the referral letter has resulted in delays in accessing the specialist care I need. This delay has exacerbated my discomfort and has had a negative impact on my ability to perform at work and manage responsibilities at home, especially in caring for my three children with significant special needs. The prolonged suffering and increased stress have significantly affected mine and my family's well-being. Recommendations: 1. Adherence to Data Protection Principles: Ensure that personal data collected during consultations is strictly limited to what is necessary for the agreed purpose. Provide clear explanations to patients regarding why specific information is being requested and how it will be used. Comply fully with GDPR guidelines, Doctap's Terms and Conditions, and Privacy Policy to protect patient data and trust. 2. Patient-Centered Communication: Foster open and respectful communication with patients, especially when they express concerns or specific requests. Be responsive to patient needs and willing to make reasonable adjustments to documentation when appropriate. 3. Staff Training and Compliance: Provide ongoing training to all medical staff on data protection regulations and professional guidelines to ensure compliance. Implement clear policies and procedures for handling patient data and addressing patient requests promptly and effectively. Positive Aspects: The booking process was straightforward and efficient. Availability of appointments was convenient and met my scheduling needs.
