Covid-19 Coronavirus Antigen Testing

Following extensive research, DocTap has selected the Healgen/Orient Gene Covid-19 lateral flow antigen test for rapid, affordable point of care Covid-19 testing. This test is a UK Public Health approved lateral flow test. It has a sensitivity of 97.3% and specificity of over 99% compared with PCR. The price of the test costs from £24 or can be booked alongside your fit to fly test for £25.

Antigen testing is available at over 10 DocTap locations across London.  Find your nearest clinic and book an appointment here. A healthcare professional in full PPE will take a swab from your nose and then load the lateral flow test cassette in front of you. To minimise social interaction, patients are then requested to leave the premise whilst the test is run.  You will receive an email with your results and doctor's certificate in under 1 hour.

Whilst many countries will accept a negative lateral flow test result as a condition of entry, please check your destination requirements carefully for specific instructions. For example, some regions will still require a PCR test, and other regions will not accept a self-test lateral flow test. Our experienced team are always on-hand to help facilitate a seamless testing and travel experience for you.

Travel rules are frequently changing, so please check the current requirements for your destination country before booking.

test details and timings

Our tests are taken by a healthcare professional, however in some cases, you can perform a clinic-guided self-swab where applicable. PCR tests require a swab to be taken from the back of your throat and/or nose. Lateral flow tests require a swab from nose and/or throat. The testing procedure can be a little uncomfortable but should not hurt.

Many countries require a PCR test. We offer PCR tests with both same day and next day results. This is the gold standard of Covid-19 testing. Some countries will accept antigen (lateral flow) tests, but please check the requirements for your destination country as it is your responsibility to ensure you have the correct test. DocTap cannot be held liable if you book the incorrect test.

No. We are only able to offer tests for patient who do not have symptoms of Covid-19. You will be asked to confirm this on booking.  If you have symptoms please book an NHS test.

When attending your appointment, please bring your booking reference number (in your confirmation email) and official, government-issue photo identification. Your ID needs to match the name that the booking is under.

Please Note: Under 16 year olds must be accompanied by an adult. Both the minor and guardian must show a valid ID.

A PCR is the gold standard test to determine whether you currently have Covid-19.  This is the test which most countries require for entry purposes.

An antigen test, also called a lateral flow test is also used to check for current infection.  This has the advantage of being quicker and cheaper than a PCR test, but can be less accurate at lower viral loads.

An antibody test looks to see whether you have had the virus in the past. Antibodies are believed to confer a degree of immunity to the re-infection by the virus.

If you require your test for travel purposes, please check the latest requirements for your destination country before booking.

DocTap have selected the Orient Gene Covid-19 antigen (lateral flow) test.  This is available from £29 and is a UK Public Health assessed antigen test with a sensitivity of 97.3% and a specificity of 100% compared with PCR. Many countries will now accept antigen tests as a condition for entry, and they are significantly cheaper and quicker than PCR.  However, many places still stipulate PCR so check the requirements for your country before booking a fit to fly certificate.

A healthcare professional will take a swab from your nose and carry out the test. You will receive your results and doctor's certificate by email within 1 hour (fit to fly) or within 24 hours (day 2 lateral flow test).

Our experienced healthcare professionals can carry out Covid-19 tests on young children. In some instances, the child may feel more comfortable if their parent performs the test. In this case, our healthcare professionals will be able to assist and guide the parent to take a swab from the child.
