Women's health
Our doctors are experienced in a wide range of women's health issues
Lots of our GPs can help with women's health. But we can't all do everything. So do check carefully.
Make sure you book the right type of appointment so that you see a clinician who can help you.
Yes, you can select the gender of your clinician when booking. If you would prefer to see a female clinician for this appointment type, please select the 'Female Only' option when booking your appointment.
Book a 15-minute appointment for one issue, either in person or remote (if examination is not required). If you have multiple concerns or a complex issue, please book a 25-minute appointment.
Yes, you can bring someone with you if you’d like.
It is not recommended to have you smear test done during your period. Blood can interfere with the sample, affecting the accuracy of the results. Aim for the middle of your cycle - around 10 to 14 days after your period starts.
Yes, we can arrange for a chaperone to be present during your appointment. If you would like a chaperone, please call us on 020 7183 3254 when booking so we can ensure one is available at your appointment time.
Our GP's can discuss HRT with you and prescribe as they deem to be appropriate. Please also bring any relevant medical history with you to your appointment.
Yes, we offer testing for PCOS, including comprehensive hormone and metabolic screening. Based on your results, your GP can recommend further evaluations and refer you to a specialist if needed.
Yes, during the consultation the GP will assess your symptoms or concerns. If appropriate, they can issue a private referral to a gynaecologist. The referral letter can be used to book an appointment with a private gynaecologist of your choice, or one they recommend.
You will need to book a new consultation each time you need a prescription, including for contraception. A DocTap GP may provide up to 3 - 6 months of contraceptive medication at a time, based on their clinical judgment. After that, you’ll need another appointment to get more. As a rule of thumb - the first prescription will be for 3 months followed by a review, then if everything is ok, doctors will issue longer durations of 6 months (or 12 months in some exceptions).
While we don’t offer direct fertility treatments such as IVF or IUI, we do provide initial assessments and fertility blood tests. If needed, your DocTap GP can also arrange a referral to a fertility specialist.
Yes, your DocTap GP can perform an in-clinic urine pregnancy test at no extra cost during your appointment, or arrange blood testing if needed. You can view the full range of available blood tests on our A–Z test list - please note that these tests are chargeable.
