Available procedures

We do not currently offer a nurse service, so some procedures are unavailable. However, certain procedures can be performed by specific doctors with the necessary skills. Please review the list of services we provide below. If the service you need is listed, ensure you select it specifically when booking, as not all doctors can perform every procedure. Avoid booking a general GP appointment, as the assigned doctor may not be able to assist.

Frequently asked questions

Do you provide ear syringing or microsuction?

We do not currently offer ear syringing as it is a less safe wax removal option. Microsuction is now the gold standard, and while we do not offer this in our clinics, we are pleased to recommend Hearology if you require this service. https://www.hearology.uk/

Can I have my stitches removed by the doctor?

We can remove minor stitches in certain cases. This depends on the location of the stitches and the complexity of the removal. Please contact us with more information and a photo if possible, and we’ll advise whether this can be done in clinic. To book this, select ‘Procedures’ followed by ‘Review of infected wound,’ then complete the prompted questions to continue. Be sure to book under this specific procedure rather than a general GP appointment to ensure you're seen by the appropriate clinician.

Do you have a nurse?

No - all procedures at DocTap are carried out by our experienced GPs.

Can you treat burns?

We can assess and treat minor burns. Our doctors can provide advice, prescribe appropriate medications (such as creams or pain relief), and recommend wound care. For more serious burns, such as large, deep, blistering, or facial burns - we recommend attending A&E or an urgent care centre, as these require specialist treatment.

I have a large wound, can you treat it?

We can assess and manage minor to moderate wounds. However, we are not equipped to treat large (e.g. more than 4cm) or deep wounds, especially those that may require stitches, extensive cleaning, or specialist care.

Do you remove moles or skin tags?

We do not currently offer mole or skin tag removal. However our doctors can examine moles or skin tags during your appointment and, if there are any concerns, they can advise you on the next steps or refer you to a specialist.

Do you offer abscess drainage?

No, we do not currently offer abscess drainage procedures. If you suspect you have an abscess, we recommend visiting your local NHS walk-in centre, urgent care clinic, or A&E, where they can assess and treat it appropriately.

Which procedures are not offered at DocTap?

We do not offer procedures such as splinter/foreign body removal, ear syringing, dental work, contraception insertion/removal, vaccinations, or injections.

Can I have a cervical smear test (pap smear)?

Yes, we can carry out smear tests in clinic. Please book a Women's Health Smear Test appointment.

Do you fit or remove contraceptive coils or implants?

No, we do not offer contraceptive implant fitting or removal services. Please contact your NHS GP or a local sexual health clinic.

Do you provide wound care services?

Yes. DocTap GPs can provide wound care for minor injuries. This includes cleaning and dressing wounds, and checking for signs of infection.
