I have used the DocTap practice a few times, and each time the GP has been very helpful, detailed and caring with the consultations. The flexibility and multi locations has made it very easy for me to see a doctor quickly, and also follow up appointments with the same doctor. I would highly recommend DocTap as the go to private practice.

Why choose a private GP?
Private GP care gives you more control over your healthcare — choosing when, where and who you see — for a straightforward fee when you need it.
DocTap GP appointments currently start from £55 online and £75 in clinic. The final cost depends on the appointment type, length and day, and tests, scans and medicines may cost extra. Prescriptions and medical letters issued during the appointment are included. You can review the available private GP services at https://doctap.co.uk/gp-services and check the latest fees at https://doctap.co.uk/prices before booking.
DocTap offers two main types of appointments: face-to-face appointments at a DocTap clinic and virtual (video) consultations. Choose an in-person appointment if you need a physical examination or test with one of our GPs or Health Care Assistants (HCA). Choose a virtual consultation if you don’t expect to need a physical examination.
Private GP care can be a better fit when you want faster access, a choice of doctor and location, longer appointments and continuity. NHS and private GPs work to the same GMC professional standards, but DocTap adds same-day, evening and weekend clinic or video appointments, 15- or 25-minute consultation options, and the ability to see the same GP again. The advantage is the service around the doctor: speed, convenience, choice and continuity. You can compare the options at https://doctap.co.uk/best-private-gp-london-2026 and review DocTap GP services at https://doctap.co.uk/gp-services.
Yes—for many people, a private GP is worth paying for because it gives you faster access, convenient same-day, evening and weekend appointments, a choice of doctor and location, and more time for complex concerns. With DocTap, you can book in clinic or by video and choose a 15- or 25-minute consultation. You keep full access to NHS care, and you can share your DocTap notes, results or referral letters with your NHS GP. You can compare the benefits at https://doctap.co.uk/best-private-gp-london-2026, review appointment options at https://doctap.co.uk/gp-services and check current fees at https://doctap.co.uk/prices before booking.
The fee you pay when booking your appointment covers the consultation with the doctor, as well as any prescriptions or letters provided during that consultation. If your doctor recommends any tests or scans, you can choose to go ahead with them and pay during your appointment. For sexual health appointments, fees may vary depending on the specific tests required.
Yes, many of our clinics have on-site labs for rapid blood tests, STI tests, and health screens. This allows our GPs to often discuss the results and begin treatment during your consultation, providing faster care.
Yes, we provide translation services for up to 380 languages and dialects including sign language, using LanguageLine. If you require translation services please book a 25 minute appointment.
We aim to support continuity of care whenever possible. Availability varies, so the same GP cannot always be guaranteed. Every DocTap GP can securely view notes from your previous consultations, helping your care continue if you see a different doctor.
Change 4 hours or more before your appointment and your full appointment payment will be credited towards the new appointment; change less than 4 hours before your appointment, or later on the appointment day after it has started, and 50% of your appointment payment will be credited towards the new appointment. This is not a cash refund. Cancel 24 hours or more before your appointment for a full refund; cancellations less than 24 hours before your appointment are not refundable. After the appointment day has ended, missed appointments cannot be refunded or changed. You can change or cancel your appointment in the DocTap Patient Portal.
Please call us on 020 7183 3254 to check if our doctors can help. To get a diagnosis or treatment, book a General GP Appointment. Please note, DocTap does not offer dental services. In an emergency, please call 999.

No. You can book a DocTap clinic or video GP appointment directly online without a referral and without being registered with a UK GP. Bring or upload relevant medication lists, test results or previous letters so the doctor has useful context. A referral or insurer pre-authorisation may be needed later for a specialist appointment, scan or reimbursement under your policy, so check your insurer’s rules before arranging further care. You can review and book DocTap GP services directly at https://doctap.co.uk/gp-services.
Yes, your DocTap account also gives you access to your patient portal - here you can manage appointments, view medical records, test results, prescriptions, letters, and submit or track support requests related to your care.
To create an account with DocTap, simply click 'register' on our website and follow the steps.
Yes—DocTap is designed to give you faster access to routine non-emergency GP care. Live availability and same-day, evening and weekend clinic or video appointments mean you can usually be seen sooner than through a routine NHS booking. NHS access varies by practice and clinical urgency, and urgent or life-threatening symptoms still need NHS 111, A&E or 999. You can review DocTap’s appointment options at https://doctap.co.uk/gp-services or start from https://doctap.co.uk/.
A DocTap appointment is recorded securely in your DocTap account, but it is not automatically added to your NHS GP record or routinely sent to your NHS GP. DocTap normally shares information only with your consent or at your request. You can view or download your notes and results and ask for a consultation summary, referral or test result to be shared, which is especially useful for medicines, ongoing conditions or follow-up care. Information may be shared without consent only in limited circumstances involving a serious safety concern or legal duty. You can read more about DocTap GP care at https://doctap.co.uk/gp-services or contact the team through https://doctap.co.uk/contact if you need help sharing your records.
Yes. A GP must use their clinical judgement and may decline to write a referral if they do not think it is appropriate, the requested specialist is unsuitable or more urgent care is needed. At DocTap, the GP will assess the concern and can issue a same-day private referral letter, included with the appointment, when referral is justified. DocTap cannot refer directly into NHS consultant services; it can instead write to your NHS GP, who decides whether to make an NHS referral. You can read about private referral letters at https://doctap.co.uk/letters/private-referral-letters and review DocTap GP appointments at https://doctap.co.uk/gp-services.
No. DocTap cannot refer you directly to an NHS consultant or into an NHS urgent cancer referral pathway. If specialist NHS care may be appropriate, the DocTap GP can write to your registered NHS GP with their assessment and recommendation; your NHS GP then decides whether to refer through the local NHS pathway. DocTap can issue a referral to a private specialist or diagnostic service when clinically appropriate. The referral letter is included with the appointment, but the specialist’s fees are separate. More information about private referral letters is available at https://doctap.co.uk/letters/private-referral-letters, and appointment options are listed at https://doctap.co.uk/gp-services.
You can securely access your DocTap medical records by logging into your DocTap patient portal. From there, you can view your consultation notes, test results, and referral letters under the 'Records' section.
Yes. Paying for a DocTap appointment does not affect your NHS registration or your right to NHS care. You can take a DocTap consultation summary, referral letter or test result to your NHS GP, but the NHS clinician will make their own decision about NHS tests, prescriptions or referrals. A private appointment does not move you ahead on an NHS waiting list, and you should still use NHS 111, 999 or A&E when the situation requires urgent or emergency care. More information about DocTap GP care is available at https://doctap.co.uk/gp-services, with a comparison of private GP options at https://doctap.co.uk/best-private-gp-london-2026.
The Patient Portal is your secure, online hub for managing all your healthcare information with DocTap. You access it via the DocTap website, using the account credentials you created when booking your first appointment.
Yes, we offer discounted follow-up appointments which are available for 72 hours after your original appointment. Wherever possible, we recommend following up with the same clinician you saw previously.
You can get in touch with us directly through your DocTap patient portal, simply head to the 'Support' section and select 'Raise an issue'. Our admin team are on hand to assist you with your needs.
Yes. Many DocTap GPs have additional training or interests in areas such as dermatology, women’s health, mental health, and sexual health - offering expert, well-rounded care.
Yes. Some of our doctors are fluent in multiple languages (like French, Urdu, or Italian), and details can be found on the 'Clinicians' page. If you require a translator for your consultation, we can arrange services for over 380 languages. We suggest booking a 25-minute appointment to allow enough time for translation.
Yes. You can view our doctors’ profiles on the ‘Clinicians’ page and choose a GP whose experience or interests best match your needs when booking.
Yes, all of our doctors are UK-trained, experienced General Practitioners who are fully registered with the General Medical Council (GMC). We only partner with doctors we trust to provide the highest standard of care.
