DocTap is a private, self-pay GP service. You can book a one-off appointment without a membership. Would you like French translation? AI translation is free in both clinic and video appointments. Please choose a 25-minute clinic appointment so we have enough time to support your conversation safely; translation is not available in 15-minute clinic appointments. For video consultations, translation is available in a 15-minute appointment.

If you are insured in France
If you are insured through Assurance Maladie, check whether you can claim reimbursement for care received abroad. Keep your detailed paid invoices, proof of payment and any prescriptions. Claims may be submitted through your ameli account or the relevant paper form. Your caisse decides eligibility and the amount reimbursed; reimbursement is not guaranteed.

Practical information for French-speaking visitors and residents, from booking your appointment to getting tests or medication.
- Can I book if I am visiting the UK or have no NHS GP?
Yes. Tourists, travellers, students and London residents can book directly with DocTap. You do not need to register with an NHS GP or leave your usual doctor. You will still need to provide your contact details and relevant medical history when booking.
- Will my doctor speak French?
Your doctor speaks English. Live AI translation supports the conversation in French; this is not a guarantee of a doctor who speaks French or a human interpreter. Tell us your preferred language before the appointment. Let the GP know straight away if anything is unclear so it can be checked.
- What should I bring to my appointment?
Bring details of your symptoms, allergies and medical conditions, plus any relevant reports. For a medication request, bring the original packaging or a clear prescription showing the medicine, strength and dose. Tell the GP if you are pregnant, may be pregnant, or are leaving the UK soon.
- Can you replace medicine I have run out of while travelling?
A GP can assess an urgent repeat prescription request. Bring your medicine packaging, an existing prescription or a medication list, including the strength and dose. A prescription is not guaranteed: the GP must decide that it is appropriate and safe under UK prescribing rules. Some medicines may need further information, monitoring or specialist care.
- Can I use a prescription from my home country?
Some overseas prescriptions can be dispensed by a UK pharmacy, depending on the country of issue, the medicine and the details on the prescription. A pharmacist can check whether yours can be accepted; restrictions apply to some medicines. If you need a new prescription, a DocTap GP can assess your request. Bring your existing prescription and medicine packaging, including the strength and dose. A new prescription is subject to clinical assessment and is not guaranteed.
- Are tests and medicines included in the appointment price?
Tests, medicines and other additional services may have separate charges. Your GP can explain what they recommend and the costs before you decide. Selected medicines are stocked at our clinics, subject to availability and clinical assessment. Check the current consultation fee in the booking process.
- Can I use travel insurance or a European health card?
DocTap appointments are private and paid for by the patient. An EHIC does not cover private treatment at DocTap. Eligible visitors can use a valid EHIC for medically necessary NHS care during a temporary stay. If you have travel or medical insurance, check with your insurer before booking whether the appointment is covered and whether prior authorisation is needed. Keep your invoices, proof of payment and any prescriptions, and ask your insurer or healthcare scheme which documents they require. Eligibility and reimbursement amounts depend on your cover.
- Can I have tests and receive results after leaving London?
Your GP can advise which tests are appropriate and whether they are available at your clinic. Result times vary by test; some samples go to an external laboratory. Before testing, tell us your travel dates and agree how results and any follow-up advice will reach you. Keep your contact details up to date.
- Is DocTap an emergency service?
DocTap is a GP service, not an emergency department. For a life-threatening emergency, call 999 or go to A&E. If you need urgent medical help and are unsure what to do, call NHS 111. You can ask for an interpreter when you call.
