Clinical records

Consented outputs for insurer workflows

Clinical information stays confidential by default, with relevant outputs shared into insurer workflows only where the patient has consented.

API access

Keep the journey inside your platform

Connect eligibility, booking, results and consented clinical outputs into insurer workflows for larger or more integrated setups.

Why health insurers choose DocTap

A stronger policyholder service without building the clinical operation

One clinical layer, less operational burden

Add GP consultations, diagnostics, prescriptions, referrals and medical documents through DocTap, without building or managing the doctors, clinics, labs and clinical governance behind it.

A better policyholder experience

Policyholders get a clearer route from concern to consultation, testing, treatment advice or documentation, rather than being passed between disconnected services.

Add diagnostics without a diagnostics operation

Offer policyholders access to GP-led testing and on-site lab capability through DocTap, without setting up diagnostic centres, phlebotomy workflows, lab operations or the clinical staffing model behind them.

Built around your cover rules

Eligibility, appointment access, payment contribution rules and consented record access can be configured around how your policies work.

Simple to start, deeper when needed

Use a DocTap organisation account to configure eligibility, access and payment rules, with policyholders added individually or by bulk upload. For higher-volume or more complex setups, API integration can connect eligibility, booking and consented clinical outputs at scale.

Frequently asked questions

What does the standard health insurer setup include?

The standard setup gives eligible policyholders access to DocTap private GP consultations through an organisation account. You can add policyholders, configure access rules, set appointment allowances and define any contribution split between the insurer and policyholder.

Can policyholders book directly?

Yes. Once they have been added to the organisation account and the access rules are in place, policyholders can book directly through DocTap.

Can insurers access clinical records?

Only with patient consent. Clinical records are confidential by default. Where the patient has consented, relevant clinical outputs can be made available through the agreed workflow.

Can we add diagnostics or wider services?

Yes. The standard setup is based around GP consultations. If you want to add wider services such as diagnostics, on-site lab pathways, health screens, STI testing or mental health support, speak to DocTap and we can discuss the right arrangement.

Can policyholders be added by bulk upload?

Yes. Policyholders can be added individually or by spreadsheet upload as part of the standard organisation account setup.

Can appointment costs be split between insurer and policyholder?

Yes. Direct-booking setups can support contribution rules so the insurer covers all or part of the appointment cost and the policyholder pays any remaining contribution at checkout.

Is DocTap suitable for emergencies?

No. DocTap is not an emergency service. Policyholders with urgent or emergency symptoms should use 999, A&E or the appropriate emergency service.

How does pricing work?

DocTap charges standard patient rates unless a bespoke arrangement is agreed. Funding rules, contribution settings and invoicing can be discussed with DocTap. Any separate policyholder-facing fees, reimbursement rules or policy-specific charges are handled by the insurer outside DocTap.

Can health insurers use DocTap through an API?

Yes. API access is available for health insurers that need a more integrated setup, such as eligibility, booking, results flow or consented clinical outputs. Speak to DocTap if you want API access set up.

Ready to connect policyholders to private GP care?
