What Is a Fit to Work Certificate?
A Fit to Work Certificate is a private medical letter from a GP confirming that you are medically safe to perform your work duties. When Do You Need One?
You’ll need a Fit to Work Certificate when an employer asks for medical confirmation that you’re well enough to carry out your job safely. These are the most common situations:
- Starting a role that requires medical clearance:
- Jobs in sectors like modelling, acting, childcare, teaching or manual work often request proof you’re fit to work.
- Returning after illness or surgery
